Astellas provides funding to non-profit organizations that provide programs that bring patients and caregivers together with support and peer networks that increase disease and resource awareness in Astellas' therapies. One way we accomplish this is by providing workshops and educational resources to patients, caregivers and professionals on organ transplants, cardiology, cancer and overactive bladder.

We have completed the first RFP review cycle for charitable donation requests for 2018. The Painted Turtle

Astellas is a long-time supporter of the Painted Turtle camp, providing funds to support tuition for children with serious medical conditions to attend and celebrate just being kids! Through innovative, camp-based programs that offer a great big dose of fun and support, children with more than 30 medical conditions visit The Painted Turtle each year, reclaiming the joys of childhood. The Painted Turtle has offered thousands of children and their families hope and encouragement through its Summer and Family Weekend camps since it opened its gates in 2004.

There is no billing department at The Painted Turtle—campers and their families attend free of charge. And there’s no limit to the amount of laughter campers take home with them either!

Renal Support Network Teen Prom

Since 2007, Astellas has provided funding for The Renal Teen Prom, a free event for teenagers and young adults with kidney disease. Set in the style of a senior prom, this gala—held annually in the Los Angeles area for the past 18 years—draws more than 400 teenagers with chronic kidney disease (CKD), their guests and volunteers from throughout southern California and around the nation. The Renal Teen Prom was created by Lori Hartwell, Renal Support Network’s president and founder, who missed her own prom because she was on dialysis. Astellas shares the Renal Support Network’s desire to help patients by educating and empowering them and their family members to take control of the course and management of kidney disease.

Celebrating 18 Years of Creating a Special Prom for Teens who have Kidney Disease - Prom season comes early for teens and young adults who have been diagnosed with kidney disease, who are on dialysis or who have a kidney transplant. More than 300 kidney disease survivors and their guests will enjoy a delightful evening at the 18th Annual Renal Teen Prom, sponsored by Renal Support Network (RSN). read more

Cancer Foundation for New Mexico

Cancer Foundation for New Mexico provides needed support to enable low-income cancer patients in northern New Mexico to have access to medical treatment in Santa Fe, where the closest comprehensive cancer treatment facility is located. Astellas is proud to fund its Patient Support Fund, which provides funds to underwrite travel reimbursement costs, lodging and meals associated with prescribed cancer treatment. Everyone deserves the access to quality health care and typically, travel costs are major obstacles for many low-income cancer patients in accessing prescribed cancer treatment. But, thanks to the Patient Support Fund, these patients have access to the help they need and won’t have to forego treatment due to travel costs.

There were times when my husband and I didn’t have the money for gas to get home from treatment in Santa Fe for my breast cancer. With the gas money that the Cancer Foundation provided, we were able to make ends meet for ourselves and our three boys.
