For people to lead healthy and productive lives, they need knowledge to prevent sickness and disease. Health education allows people to make informed decisions about their own health, and develops the skills, values and attitudes that enable citizens to lead healthy and fulfilled lives. UNESCO points out that health education is more than just learning about diseases and prevention. It aims to improve health literacy, skills, and attitudes of individuals and communities, and it can be delivered in various settings, such as schools, workplaces, health facilities, and media. Astellas will support health education activities which strengthen the link between education and health. This may include the recruitment, development, training and retention of health workforce, health education lessons outside the school curriculum, or first aid courses to reduce the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents.
